Unfortunately due to a Covid outbreak with three of the NBPEI Major U18 teams the League showcase February 19 & 20 had to be postponed. The showcase has now been scheduled for March 12 & 13 back in Fredericton at the Willie O'Ree. The showcase schedule and times will be posted on the league website in the next couple weeks.
Both the Charlottetown Knights and Kensington Wild will be back in action playing games with the NB Teams after Covid restrictions were relaxed this week in PEI. The annoucement from the Chief Public Health Office in PEI, Tuesday February 8th permits games to be played starting Thursday February 17th. "This is great news for the league and just in time for PEI teams to be able to participate in the League Showcase, February 19th and 20th at the Willie O'Ree Arena in Fredericton", stated Barry Thompson, League President.
The League had essentially been shutdown since mid-December with limited icetime and practices. The four New Brunswick teams were able to resume play February 5th after their restrictions were eased earlier that week.
As a result of the pause in play the League has extended its regular season to the weekend of March 20th afterwhich playoffs will begin in both NB and PEI.
After an extended Christmas break in League play due to Covid restrictions the NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League will ease back into games starting February 5th with the Moncton Flyers hosting the Saint John Vitos and the Fredericton Caps at home to the Northern Moose.
Covid restrictions were eased in both New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island this week. Teams in New Brunswick are permitted to return to games as of January29th whereas the Prince Edward Island teams will be back on the ice but for practices only until further notice from the Islands Chief Public Health Office.
League games will continue in NB until the PEI teams are permitted to play games and leave the Island. The League is hopeful that interprovincial play will resume within the next couple weeks in time to have the second league showcase in Fredericton scheduled for February 19th and 20th.

As a result of the increased number of Covid cases in both New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and restrictions imposed by Provincial Health Authorities the NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League has suspended all games until at least January 8th, 2022. The League will be revisiting the 2021-2022 schedule over the next few weeks to discuss options for completing the regular season and playoffs leading up to the 2022 Atlantics in Newfoundland. Any scheduling adjustments will not impact the League's second showcase of the season February 19th and 20th in Fredericton.
The NBPEIMU18HL received an early Christmas gift this year. Not one they were hoping for. With the number of Covid cases increasing throughout the Maritimes, Public Health authorities have restricted playing games and team travel in New Brunswick (at this point) limiting league play to the Prince Edward Island teams. All games involving New Brunswick teams will be postponed until further notice. Currently, the Boxing Day and New Years Eve home and home games scheduled between the Knights and Wild will still go as scheduled in both Kensington and Charlottetown respectively.
The League is hopeful to get back to a full schedule of games early in the New Year.
