2023-24 season is ready to kickoff

Another great season of the NB/PEI Major U18 Hockey League is getting ready to start on Friday, September 22 at the Qplex, as the Saint John Vitos host the NB 2023 Champs, the Fredericton Caps.

Teams are finalizing their rosters after extensive training camps and the jamboree last weekend at the Superior Propoane Centre in Moncton.

Fredericton Caps Win NB 2023 Major U18 AAA Championship

The Fredericton Caps defeated the Moncton Flyers by a score of 3 - 2 in the seventh game of their "first to eight points"  NB Major U18 AAA Championship Series.  The Caps did it dramatic fashion coming from behind in not only the seventh game of the series, but the sixth game as well.  The series proved to be a classic with four of the seven games being decided by one goal.  This is the first Championship for Fredericton since the 2010 - 2011 season.  

Both Moncton and Fredericton will move on to the Major U18 AAA Atlantics being held in Fredericton at Willie O'Ree Place March 30th  - April 2nd, hosted by the Fredericton Caps. Moncton will enter the Atlantics as Team New Brunswick. Team Prince Edward Island represented by the Charlottetown Knights, Team Newfoundland and Labrador represented by the Pinnacle Growlers, and Team Nova Scotia representated by Weeks U18 Majors round out the teams attending.  

Based on the season all these teams have had the Atlantics should be extremely competitive with any team capable of winning the Atlantic Title.

Charlottetown Knights Win PEI Major U18 AAA Championship

The Charlottetown Knights capped off their "first overall" NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League regular season title winning the PEI Major U18 AAA Championship, March 13th defeating the Kensington Wild in four straight games.  The Knights will now represent Hockey PEI at the Major U18 AAA Atlantics in Fredericton, NB March 30 - April 2.  The Atlantics are looking to be very competitive this year with the top teams from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. 

The NBPEI Major U18 League will be represented by three teams at this years' Atlantics.  The Moncton Flyers, Fredericton Caps and Charlottetown Knights will all see action on Thursday March 30th at Willie O'Ree Place. Games start at 1 pm with Team New Brunswick playing Team Newfoundland and Labrador.

NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League Award Winners Announced

The NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League annouced the league award winners and All-star Teams for the 2022 - 2023 season. All awards were voting on by NBPEI Major U18 teams based on play and stats compiled throughout regular season play. The League would like to congratulate award winners on their successful season wish them the best in the playoffs.

NBPEI Major U18 "End of Season" Showcase

The NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League will be holding its “end of regular season” showcase February 11th and 12th 2023 at the qplex in Quispamsis, NB hosted by the Saint John Vito’s .

 

This year marks the third year for League Showcases hosted by Teams throughout the league.  This showcase, at the end of the regular season, will provide an opportunity for scouts from the Maritime Hockey League, QMJHL, College and University to see how players have developed throughout the season. 

 

The NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League has gained a reputation for elite level of hockey in Atlantic Canada. These Showcases also provide an opportunity to increase the visibility of the league.

 

All teams will play two regular season games over the weekend which count toward the regular season schedule.  As part of the Showcase a Saint Vito's Alumni game will be held prior to the Saturday evening game.

Flyers win the 2023 IceJam

The NBPEI Major U18 Hockey League want to congratulate the Moncton Flyers on winning the 2023 IceJam Tournament.  Both finalists, the Charlottetown Knights and Flyers of the NBPEI Major U18 League are no starngers to each other. Great job by both teams and a good showing from all the NBPEI Teams through weekend with three teams of the six team league making the final eight.  

The NBPEI Major U18 League would like to recognize the commitment and dedication of players, coaches, trainers, management and parents to their respective teams.
