FLYERS PLAY TWO HOME GAMES THIS WEEKEND

The Moncton Flyers look to increase their lead atop the NBPEI U18 AAA League standings with two home games this weekend.

The Flyers, who have 26 points in 17 games, take on the second place Charlottetown Knights (23 points in 16 games) on Saturday. Gametime is 7:30 pm.

On Sunday, the Flyers entertain the Saint John Vito's.  Gametime is 1 pm.

FLYERS WORK OVERTIME TO SWEEP WEEKEND GAMES

The Moncton Flyers defeated the Northern Moose 3 - 2 in a shootout on Sunday to cap a four-point weekend in the NBPEI U18 AAA League.  The Flyers needed a last minute goal by Néka Jean to tie the game and the Flyers prevailed in the shootout.

Liam Daigle scored in the first period to give the Flyers a 1 - 0 advantage but two goals in the second gave the Moose the lead entering the third, setting the stage for the late-game heroics.  Austin Sanchez and Jean scored in the shootout while Simon Cormier stopped both Moose attempts to add to the 23 shots he blocked in regulation.

FLYERS WIN BATTLE OF THE HEAVYWEIGHTS - PLAY MOOSE ON SUNDAY

The Moncton Flyers defeated the hometown Charlottetown Knights 3 - 1 on Friday to increase their lead atop the standings of the NBPEI U18 AAA League.  The win gives the Flyers a two-point lead over the Knights.

Néka Jean led the Flyers' offense with a goal and two assists.  Austin Sanchez and Patrick Baxter also scored while Jacob Pineau added two assists.

Loic Nadeau was strong in goal, stopping 28 shots.  The Flyers directed 45 shots at Knights' goaltender Hudson Bradley.

On Sunday, the Flyers travel to Bathurst in a 1 pm matchup with the Northern Moose.

FLYERS DOWN CAPS - TAKE THREE OF FOUR POINTS ON THE WEEKEND

The Moncton Flyers defeated the Fredericton Caps 5 - 3 on Sunday to keep pace with the Charlottetown Knights at the top of the NB/PEI league standings.

Liam Daigle and Néka Jean each scored twice to lead the Flyers to victory.  Olivier LeBlanc also scored and Zach Gill added three assists.  Simon Cormier stopped 27 shots to get the win in goal.  The Flyers outshot the Caps 51 - 30.

On Saturday, the Flyers dropped a 4 - 3 overtime decision to the Knights.  Daigle notched a goal and an assist while Zach Gill and Nathan Weber also scored.  Loic Nadeau stopped 26 shots in recording the loss in goal.

FIRST PLACE FLYERS HOST KNIGHTS SATURDAY - TRAVEL TO FREDERICTON SUNDAY

The Moncton Flyers get back into league action this weekend with a pair of games. Fresh off reaching the quarter-finals of the Monctonian, the first-place Flyers (9-3-1, 19 points) host the second-place Charlottetown Knights (9-2-0, 18 points) on Saturday.  Gametime is 7:30 pm at the Superior Propane Centre.

On Sunday, the Flyers travel to Fredericton to take on the Monctonian champion Caps (7-9-0, 14 points) in a 3 pm start at the Willie O'Ree sports Complex.

FLYERS DROP SECOND GAME IN A ROW - FALL TO WILD

The Moncton Flyers dropped a 5 - 2 decision to the Kensington Wild on Saturday.

The Flyers got goals from Olivier LeBlanc and Néka Jean.  LeBlanc added an assist while Austin Sanchez assisted on both Flyers' goals.

The Flyers outshot the Wild 57 - 27.  Loic Nadeau took the loss in goal.
